Sherrylynn Johnson’s and J.T.’s trip to 2010 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo was not without its trials.

Just a few weeks earlier Sherrylynn had an opportunity few Americans get, to go to the Canadian Finals Rodeo. That event consists of 6 runs. On one of the runs, when Sherrylynn was not riding J.T., her belt buckle got stuck on the horn of the saddle and as a result of trying to unhook it she dislocated and broke her thumb on the third turn.

Continuing on to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Sherrylynn had a cast that was constructed specifically to wear during her runs. The barrel racing segment runs for 10 straight days requiring a run each evening. At this location a 14 second run is considered good and Sherrylynn had 6 runs in the 13-second range.

Sherrylynn finished 14th in the world overall for 2010 – not bad for finishing the year with a cast on one hand.

As promised, Sherrylynn was present in the Spalding Labs booth in Mandalay Bay to sign autographs. She and her husband Mike Johnson report that every contestant is now trying Bye Bye Odor in their stalls, trailer or black water tank.

In addition, the barn that housed the horses from the specialty acts spritzed the stalls each day with Bye Bye Odor. It was the best smelling barn at the Thomas Mack Arena.

In late December Mike’s World’s Richest Calf Roping and Sherrylynn’s Invitational Barrel Race was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Tulsa fairgrounds. Congratulations to Trevor Brazile for winning the 2010 WRCR and to Katilyn Prentice for winning the Invitational Barrel Race!

Spalding Labs is proud to sponsor the Johnsons. Mike holds the record for the most trips to National Finals Rodeo in calf roping. Sherrylynn just won the finals at the Ft. Worth Stockyards Championship Rodeo.

The Johnson’s took a well-deserved rest before heading out to Odessa in mid January, then on to Denver, Fort Worth and Rapid City, South Dakota.

We wish them luck in their travels.
