Fly traps

This question has suggested answer(s)

We have purchased fly predators and other products from you.  The large sticky fly trap has been installed as per your instructions, close to trees, grass, water sources, 4 feet of the ground.  After more than 2 weeks, NOTHING except one poor ladybug.  We had to tied it down as it is so light that it almost blew away.  It is not that it is an area that there are no flies, there are.  So what's up? Not impressed with this particular product.

  • Hello Eren,

Looking back on your shipment history you bought two Bite Free stable fly traps.  These are best installed about 3 feet off the ground on a stake in the sunlight.  It is best not to hang them as you have experienced the wind blows them and can cause them to come apart.

This trap is designed for the biting fly that causes a problem for horses on their legs.  They reproduce in decaying organic matter i.e. old hay remnants, grass and leaves.

If your horses are not being bothered by these flies that is the reason you are not catching any.  House flies are not attracted to this type of trap.
